Processing the bottom of the sleeves usually does not cause any difficulties. But what if the sleeve is voluminous, and there are folds or tucks on the bottom of the sleeve? It is most convenient to perform processing with a trimmed grind.

Using the example of a jacket from Burda 8/2019, consider how to process the bottom of volume sleeves with tucks:

Step 1

Chuck and tuck into the lower sections of the sleeves and grind from the lower sections to the tops.

Tie the ends of the stitches and hide them in a tuck.

Iron tuck depths to one side.

Step 2

Complete the seams of the sleeves.

Stitch sleeves.

Step 3

Cut out the hem of the bottom of the sleeves.

Duplicate details: press the gasket from the wrong side to the linings of the sleeves.

Step 4

Stitch short sections on the hem of the sleeves.

Iron the seam allowances.

Pin the stitches to the lower sections of the sleeves, aligning the seams.

Sew it down.

Seam allowances close to the stitches and cut.

Turn the stitches down, iron the seam allowances on the stitches and sew along the stitching seams close to the seams.

Turn off the seams on the wrong side and take them.

Iron the bottom edges of the sleeves.

Sew the inner sections of the stitches by hand to the depths of the stitches and the allowances for the seams of the sleeves.
