Lacquer or shellac?

A lot of interesting colored coatings were invented, which are able to stay on nails from one week, like a regular varnish, to three. Seductive.

The idea to combine color varnish and modeling gel arose in the 90s of the last century. To increase the durability of the traditional coating, experts from leading nail brands tried to introduce various synthetic polymers into its composition. Success came decades later, when it was possible to combine the usual varnish with a modeling gel and achieve both the durability of the coating and its complete safety.

Gel polish is based on the so-called bio-gel. You should not be deceived - there are no natural people leaving here. But chemists managed to create a tool that does not harm the nail plate, does not violate its structure and allows air to pass through. Such a coating, like any gel, does not dry in the air, but hardens under an ultraviolet lamp. Special application technology: base, 2 color layers, fixative. It is the observance of this sequence that allows the layers to reliably “adhere” to each other and provides a stable result. The biogel itself is transparent. The lacquer component is responsible for the palette and gloss. The choice of shades is very wide. If the first gel varnishes were produced in standard red and light pink shades, now exotic turquoise, fateful black and a dozen variations of peach or wine range are quite accessible. Gel polish is also suitable for French manicure, and even for painting on nails.

Pros of coverage

■ The main plus of gel polish is the ability to forget about manicure for at least 10-14 days. The coating practically does not peel off, has an intense gloss and is resistant to external influences. The only thing that can damage the gel polish layer is mechanical action. Therefore, file nails if necessary should be very careful.

■ After drying under a UV lamp, it does not stick and is not smeared, so you will not damage a fresh manicure by wearing gloves or removing a purse from a bag.

■ Unlike materials used for building, gel polish does not injure the top layer of the plate. Nails do not exfoliate after peeling.

■ Dries gel polish quickly - about 2 minutes each coat. The whole procedure takes no more than 20-30 minutes.

■ A layer of gel polish serves as protection against any external influences. Sealing the ends of fragile, exfoliating nails, it makes them denser and allows you to grow long, beautiful nails.

Cons of coverage

■ The declared 2 weeks of coating resistance is the optimum period for light varnishes. Bright and dark shades, growing, make the border between the painted and unpainted area very visible. This does not look very neat, so the coating may have to be removed earlier than planned.

■ Although gel polish makes the nail plate denser, it does not strengthen it. Therefore, if initially the nails were very thin or delaminated, after removing it, everything will return to normal. Please note that some brands require cutting. This can damage the nail plate and make it uneven. It is safer to soak in a special liquid under the foil. However, even the most advanced gel polish removers contain acetone and, with continuous use, dry nails.

■ The end result is highly dependent on the skill of the master. If everyone can paint the nails with varnish, then applying the gel polish requires strict adherence to the technology. If the master did not dry out or, on the contrary, dry his nails under the lamp, the smoothness and durability of the coating is not guaranteed. If chips are formed on one or two nails, it is quite difficult to mask them independently.

New items

GLUE BASES. For home use, adhesive-based varnish strips are indispensable. They are quickly glued onto a clean, dry nail plate, after which it remains only to process the tips with a file to remove excess. Such a manicure lasts 7-10 days.

VELVET MANICURE. The desired effect is created by the varnish base and the original drug with villi. For application, a special apparatus, flocider, creating an electromagnetic field is required. The villi are electrified and attracted to the varnish layer, creating a voluminous, “fluffy” coating. It lasts for several days, so this option is more suitable for going out.

MEANS WITH HOLOGRAPHY EFFECTS OR KRAKELURA (cracked coating). The principle of operation is simple, like all ingenious. The varnish contains the smallest metal particles. After painting the nail, bring it to the magnet, and the particles will stretch upward, creating various patterns.Magnetic plates are produced to create three types of pattern - stripes, stars and arcs. But changing the location of the nail under the magnet, you can get more original abstract images.
