P&G combined Gillette®, Pantene®, Tide® and other brands at a unique venue in the capital of the Summer Olympic Games.

On the eve of the official opening ceremony of the XXXI Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Procter & Gamble, the Worldwide Partner of the Olympic Games, opened the doors of its Family Home - a unique “home away from home” where athletes, their mothers and their families can enjoy the comfort and hospitality of P&G brands.

For the third consecutive Olympics, P&G has been doing everything so that athletes and their loved ones can celebrate successes, as well as support those who have yet to show their strength, ability and unshakable will to win the competition. The family house is a unique platform where you can relax and spend time with your loved ones, a place that unites all P&G brands with the only goal - to surround guests with care, to let them feel at home thousands of kilometers from their home country. Pantene® and Aussie® beauty salon, Cover Girl® manicure station, Gillette® man’s studio for men, Tide® laundry and much more - P&G did everything possible to keep athletes and their mothers at home throughout the Olympics.
At the opening ceremony, mothers of athletes from all over the world were welcomed by Nadia Comaneci, a world-famous gymnast, Tide® brand ambassador and winner of five Olympic gold medals.Becoming the first gymnast in history to receive a top score of “10.0” at the Olympics, Komaneci told her mothers about her breakthrough in gymnastics, and how she had inspired all athletes in the world to fight for high results.
Nadia Comanechi noted: “I didn’t go to the 1976 Olympics for the highest score, and already there I found out that I am capable of this. It is amazing how sport has changed in 40 years and what role women now play in it, inspiring with their results.”
Guests at the Family Home will also be able to join the Always® #LikeAGirl campaign and record inspirational videos for girls around the world with the hashtag #LikeAGirl throughout their entire life. This initiative is aimed at improving the self-esteem of adolescents, because it is sport that is one of the main sources of girl’s self-confidence.
Phil Duncan, P&G Chief Design Officer: "We are very pleased to be in Rio today at our Family Home, where brands P&G help athletes, their mothers and their families feel at home during the Olympic Games. We know that families rarely get gratitude for the role they play in the life of an athlete, and today our brands have the opportunity to say “thank you” to these people. Our gratitude is manifested not only in free procedures and services, but also in home comfort. We are creating a space where Olympic family members can relax during the Games. "

Anastasia Nazarenko, Olympic champion, who appreciated the idea of “home away from home”, was also a guest of the opening ceremony of the Family House: “I am sure that this great place will be the second home for mothers who came to cheer for their children during such important competitions. The atmosphere here is amazing, everyone is very friendly, and it is felt that, first and foremost, P&G thought about the comfort and convenience of athletes and their families. It’s great that in Rio there will be a place where you can really feel at home! "
The opening ceremony ended with a bright performance by the Olodum collective - the world famous Brazilian drummer orchestra.
As Honorary Sponsor of Moms, P&G invites all athletes and their families to visit the P&G Family Home throughout the Rio Olympic Games in the flesh before the Closing Ceremony.
