When we asked Masha Tsigal to present one of the 1987 Burda models, the designer did not hesitate to choose a sexy corsage paired with wide Bermudas. At one time, this kit was incredibly popular among readers.

How relevant is such an ensemble today?

It is interesting to look at the old magazine and understand that fashion is really cyclical: both the corsage top and shorts are must-have in the summer of 2017. A crop top, that is, a strapless shortened top with an emphasized chest and waist line, is a very feminine wardrobe item that goes well with voluminous skirts and track pants. It is indispensable for sport-chic style. The set with Bermuda is also nice to me. Large jewelry is also relevant - massive earrings, and a straw hat. This is a light outfit where you can take a walk on vacation or meet friends on the summer terrace. However, if in the morning you need to go to work, then you can calmly throw a jacket or trench coat on top that will hide your bare shoulders.

How can I upgrade this kit?

I propose to “break” it and make an option with a skirt or to complement both things with a voluminous denim jacket.A charming mix of prints - polka dots and stripes - can be safely used now. Pay attention to soft denim: it is not only blue, but also white and even pink. You can not be shy and sew yourself a beautiful summer kit. Pink is my favorite color, and such a corsage will look very feminine.

What gives women the ability to sew?

Sewing is a real meditative practice. It is no accident that in the old days women of all classes were able to sew, knit and embroider. Now these skills are a bit faded into the background, but it is in our power to revive them. I am most interested in embroidery and knitting, but, unfortunately, it is extremely rare to devote time to them, because they require special patience. I like painting and decorating more, that's why I came to design.

What are your feelings about Burda Magazine?

It is very nice to hold it in my hands again: it was from the Burda pattern that I sewed my first things. Recently, my mother found in the country one of these creations - a sundress. I still remember how I bought pink fabric for him. In my opinion, the magazine still reflects the latest fashion trends. Readers are offered a wide selection of dresses - from everyday to wedding. After all, there must be some eternal values.
